Act on Energy, Warwickshire, UK
David has a background in the building industry having studied building technology at the University of Wales. He has worked on housing and civil engineering projects before moving into the heating industry working with British Gas, installers and a boiler manufacturer. He has also built several new homes, renovated old buildings and carried out barn conversions.
David became involved with energy conservation when the Energy Saving Trust advice network started in 1993. He later set up the Warwickshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (now called Act on Energy) as a registered charity for Stratford on Avon District Council in 1998 and is currently Chief Executive of the organisation.
Act on Energy provides free advice to the local community on how they can best reduce their energy use and helps people to access grants and subsidised insulation schemes. It is funded by and supports 12 local authorities in creating energy related strategies, identifying and delivering actions and monitoring results.
We believe that to achieve a substantial change in personal behaviour we have to work with local communities and other organisations to demonstrate realistic alternatives. << back
