Until June 2008 Adrian Hewitt had responsibility for developing and implementing climate change policies at the London Borough of Merton – most notably the progressive MertonRule renewable energy policy which won the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Silver Jubilee Cup. He is now Associate Partner of Metropolis Green, an energy planning and strategy consultancy.

He has given talks on this subject at many conferences and seminars, including: the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal Town Planning Institute, MIT and WPI (US), the Energy Research Institute (Delhi), Vancouver, Prague, Rome, Madrid, Lisbon, and Stockholm and Freiburg (ICLEI). He is a visiting lecturer at Oxford and Perm State University (in Russia), and climate change advisor to the Institute of Russian and Slavonic Studies at Oxford University.

He is a member of the Town and Country Planning Association Policy Council, the National Physical Laboratory’s Energy Network, and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council “Carbon Vision” engagement group. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2007, and in May 2008 won the Heating & Ventilation Contractor Association’s Gold Award. << back
